What I Offer
Editing and mentoring for spoken word artists
Support focused on moving work from performance to the page, while preserving voice, rhythm, and intent.
Editing Fiction
I offer editing of short-form fiction, focusing on readability, consistently, voice and impact.
Copy editing and Typesetting
Careful attention to layout, form, and readability, so the work feels right in a reader’s hands. Fiction and non-fiction, up to 5,000 words.
Why Editing?
You might not think editing is useful — especially if your work already connects powerfully in a room — but strong editing can deepen your relationship with your writing and prepare you for the realities of submitting and publishing.
There are more exciting publication opportunities than ever before. Editing for poetry offers space to consider form, tone, language, and layout, asking essential questions:
How will your poems speak to a reader?
How will they live beyond the stage?
Why Work With Me?
As a mentor, I draw on over 15 years of writing and performing experience, alongside my publishing knowledge as editor at award-winning indie press Burning Eye Books.
I’m motivated by helping poets reach their full potential — both on the page and in live performance. I believe everyone deserves access to thoughtful, constructive feedback and the tools to grow in confidence and craft.
Accessibility & Pricing
I understand the complexity of artists’ practical and accessibility needs. My approach is bespoke, responsive, and rooted in care — creating space for confidence, ease, and validation throughout the process.
On a low income? I offer a sliding scale and can arrange agreed payment instalments.

I couldn’t have asked for a better editor for my first pamphlet. Bridget really supported me to become a better editor of my own work and helped me refine poems that had been sitting around gathering dust for years. They are very knowledgeable about formatting work and really helped me bring the whole thing together from first draft to print. I’d definitely recommend Bridget as an editor, especially if you are still in the early stages of figuring out publishing as they offer lots of kind and supportive guidance on the process.

Bridget offers insightful editing, praising the parts of the work that shine and finding intuitive ways to present them as well as giving innovative guidance on how to reconstruct poems where writers block has led to a dead end. 11/10 would give poems to be edited on the altar of their cleverness again.

Working with Bridget has helped me so much in my craft – the way they guided me, challenged me to write better work and let go of what is needed to make my writing more powerful. They took a huge amount of care with me and spent a large amount of timing reading and reviewing all of my poems, helping to develop a more objective view of my writing. I’d wholeheartedly recommend working with Bridget as a mentor, it was a hugely enjoyable and rewarding experience.’

They have an eye to take the best bits of your poetry and lift them onto a page of their own. Their feedback is constructive, creative and supportive. My poetry has come on leaps and bounds since getting Bridget’s advice. I’ll definitely be using their services again and couldn’t recommend them enough.
