black-out blinds
useless
but we didn’t know
we moved here in the crook
of winter
now spring pushes
the sun higher
a warm alarm
or lover
who’s big toe slots itself
around my Peroneal tendon
the sensation is unpleasant
I shift
this wakes me
now for sneezing
and hip joints to ache
heaving from one side to other
confronted by last night’s
dinner breath
the last tea
and hot sleepy skin
now you move on to
the belly
like a cobra
I keep
reaching
cheek to shoulder blade
you groan
affectionately
this is how we’ve always been
good morning my love of loves.
