Could this be the epic holiday entry I’ve been meaning to write?!

Well, maybe. We’ll see how we go. (I have actually just cut it down to Epcot, realising how much stuff I actually have to say about each park. Damnit.)

The reason for this impromptu writing spat is simply because I don’t write enough. Which is everyone’s problem isn’t it? Blogs like Tumblr just promote the element of a picture can say a thousand words. Now don’t get me wrong, I have a Tumblr account but can often find very little to say about sharing a picture of some hot manga guy, other than mygoshisn’thedelish? So writing has to come back at some point, I can’t agree with Saussure in thinking that speech is superior to writing. Writing is artistic; you can mould it to reflect, depict, portray, lie, proclaim, anything. We use it everyday. So I have decided to not take it for granted; I will write!

Whether anyone will read is the real question. ha!

So, where exactly to begin with my holiday? The beginning seems like the obvious place but the memories of each day have now become inseparable, taking sleep out of the equation. My hyper-delight childhood emotions have congealed into one gooey mass of rainbows and smiles. Simply sickening I would say. But I shall start with the first day, the first time I entered Disney World and experienced the magic. You can be entirely cynical of Disney, suspicious of its dark undertones and paedophilia associations but it’s truly mind-blowing and heart-melting. So for the first day, after recovering from a small amount of jetlag we set off for Epcot.

Margaritas! 😀 (this is important later.)

So, if you’ve never been to Disney World, Epcot is definitely the place to go if you’re looking for a more chilled out today. The flower shows are beautiful and around the park there are several Disney cut bushes, the one above is Peter Pan! The point of Epcot is to celebrate the difference of culture as well as the world universally. With attractions like Land and Sea, Epcot has successfully demonstrated the importance of keeping the land and sea safe, as well as making it accessible for adults and children alike. The most anticipated ride at Epcot is the new Soarin’ ride which is found at Land. This simulation ride allows you to feel as if you are hanggliding over California. The experience is really pleasant and definitely worth a look if you can get on! The queues range for 1 hour to 2 hours from about 10am onwards so get there early or get yourself a fastpass!

Land also offers a gentle boat ride around the circle of life, demonstrating the way in which the land works to produce food and water through several different climates throughout the world. The tour then goes through several greenhouses to which Disney show off their agriculture skills… with giant lemons and tomato trees, etc. The display is impressive, but you can definitely tell that this fairytale ‘Living with the land’ is an American exclusive thing.

Sea is a gigantic aquarium that starts you off on a giant clam, on the hunt of Nemo. The slow-track ride takes you through the dark tunnels of the Reef and projects Finding Nemo characters into the aquarium tank to give the illusion that they are in there with the rest of the fish. The catch is of course that this isn’t the ocean, or the reef. There is some beautiful sealife here and lots of starfish! A turtle talk looks into how oil spills and pollution affect the mating habits of the sea creatures. It’s sad but there’s the element of heart-warning because of course, it’s Disney! I was so impressed the the work they were doing though that I gave some money towards the care and support of the turtles at Epcot.

So, that’s TWO of the attractions at Epcot. Now, onto that giant golf ball. What IS that I hear you say. Everyone says it. It’s actually a ride. WOW you think. Mmm. It’s really not that exciting, especially if you know you’re history and was hoping for something a little more exciting than Dame Judy Dench simply ‘going through the motions’. The slow moving track takes you through the history of the earth and the development of the human race. This is all displayed, using mannequins. I hate mannequins, it was mildly terrifying but Judy’s voice did soothe me. Once you come to the end, you can explore 3D games and other puzzles for the kids.

The rest of Epcot is laid out around the lake, the large perimeter is home to eleven (it might be more, but this is just from memory) different nationalities. As we travelled left first, I will go in that order.

MEXICO – Yummy looking resturant. Couldn’t eat there, no vegan options. Did buy yummy Margaritas though.

CHINA – Saw Mulan! Very beautiful garden displays and resturant. Again, no eating.

NORWAY – Awesome looking water ride that we didn’t manage to go on =[

AFRICA – Reminded me very much of Animal Kingdom and will elaborate on that another time.

GERMANY – Yummy smelling sausages.

ITALY – Small version of St Michael’s palace, Venice being one of the only places I had been to. Didn’t stop there long, Margarita is almost gone.

MOROCCO – Awesome band playing.

JAPAN – Amazing shop selling manga, anime things as well as a massive collection Hello Kitty items. I resisted! Margarita gone =[

FRANCE – SAW PRINCESS AURORA.

ENGLAND – It rained. LOL. There were clouds coming in all day but it didn’t rain until we got to England. HA! It’s was actually bizarre to see England stereotyped. There was a mini Windsor castle, a fish n chips stand, a pub and tearooms. The pub had been booked out, apparently everyone wants a roast?

CANADA – Went here twice for some reason. Watched the ‘O, Canada’ experience which was quite weird and very patriotic. I think we, the UK could learn a thing or two about being patriotic and not in the wartime sense.

The firework display is definitely something to check out as well. Specular Displays in the evening in which take place on the lake and have a spinning, colour-changing globe. oh, and lazors 😀

Epcot is an excellent park and if you’re only at Disney for a short time, make sure you see some of it. It’s the best natural history museum in the world!

So I think that’s it for my Epcot account. I’ve probably forgotten to add LOADS in but I don’t want to either completely ruin your trip or bore you to death by regaling every little detail.
